Runyon Readings

Around our house, there are always multiple books in progress. Currently, David is reading You are Not a Gadget by Jaron Lanier. In an unabashed attempt to make summer and trips to the shore come sooner, I am reading this gem with the most appropriate bookmark ever (thanks L)!

As a family, we are reading The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place: the Mysterious Howling. It's a great older elementary read about a young governess and her three almost feral charges. Thanks to the book, Tabitha has earned a new nickname "Tabiwoooo".

Tabitha has taken a strong liking to the book Uncle Caleb got her for Christmas. Moo Baa La La La by Sandra Boynton is mostly made up of animal noises. Her favorite seems to be the cow.

In an effort to encourage and expand my daughter's love of farm animals, I introduced her to this book:

I grew up with this book and have fond memories of it. Last June, at our library's book sale, I saw this and had to buy it. As we sat flipping through the pages, Tabitha turned back to the very front page and revealed....

Unbeknownst to me, I bought back the very book I had as a child. It was oddly comforting to think that the book had found me or I had found it after all these years. More than that, it made me realize just how small town my home actually is.
