No Spend March

For the past couple of years several blogging friends have participated in No Spend March. The basic idea is that you only purchase necessities. Some challenge themselves to cut back on certain areas of necessities like shaving an extra $50 from the grocery bill. This year our family is giving it a go. I'm quite excited about the opportunity to see how much we can save. The hard part will be not eating out, or making those impulse purchases, but that is precisely the point.

To keep my mind off of purchasing and on the blessings I have, I'm taking the month of March to spring clean. I'm going room by room this month purging, organizing, and deep cleaning. Yes, I'll be moving furniture, sucking up dust bunnies, and getting rid of clutter. I'm using a couple resources to  provide guidance. The first is Tsh Oxenrider's Organized Simplicity. I've read the book, I've blogged about the book, and now I'm going to go step-by-step through some of her suggestions. I'm also going to utilize a Christmas present my in-laws gave me-- Martha Stewart Homekeeping Handbook as well as the Fly Lady's Detailed Cleaning Lists to help make my house smell and look brand new.

My goal is to keep you all informed as to what I'm doing, tricks I'm learning, and how I'm going about it. Not that the majority of you will care, but it will hopefully keep me accountable. To get things started, I'm tackling the Living Room and Dining Room. They are the most clutter free and organized rooms in the house, which should give me the mental and emotional boost to tackle the kitchen and bedrooms (ugh). Wish me luck!
