A Baby Blessing

On August 10, we continued a family tradition. After Tabitha was born, we celebrated her arrival and prayed over her life with a Baby Blessing. [Here is the why behind our choice.] It was such a meaningful time that we knew Caroline deserved the same. Sadly, many of our dearest friends couldn't make the date, but our families were able to be present. What I time of intimate dedication and blessing it was!

Rosene and John prayed Zephaniah 3:17 over Caroline and prayed specifically for her relationships as she grows. My mom also prayed a blessing over Caroline that my grandfather, who I never knew, had prayed over her. David's parents prayed that he would lead his family well and my parents prayed for me as I mother two girls. My brother Philip and sister-in-law Lisa prayed over Tabitha as she adjusts to her role as big sister. We figured that since both Philip and Lisa are second borns, they had unique insight into what and how an older sibling should be! ;-)

The affair was different than Tabitha's celebration--mainly because we had a 3 year old to factor into the proceedings and due to the fact that I was still very much in recovery with nursing and healing from Caroline's birth. Still, we had delightful fellowship, a beautiful day, yummy munchies, and my mom made her famous Sweet Garlic Pickles as a little favor. After all, it was only fitting since Caroline's "name" in utero was Pickle.

If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
John 8:31b-32
