National Picture Book Month

In honor of National Picture Book Month and to satisfy my former librarian-self, here are four of my favorite picture books recently published. Check them out of your local library. Regardless of whether you have children or not, these stories are sure to please.

1. Windblown by Edouard Manceau -- A story with little text, but all the illustrations are made from several different shapes and a black pen. You can even download the shapes so you can play and create new pictures. So fun, interactive, and simple!

2. Flora and the Flamingo by Molly Idle -- Wordless. Beautiful. Completely spoke to my eldest's current fascination with all things ballet.

3. Open This Little Book by Jesse Klausemeier -- A series of books inside of books that tell a story from beginning to end. So very fun and entertaining!

4. Papa's Mechanical Fish by Candace Fleming -- Inspired by a true story this inventive tale of a inventor has whimsical illustrations and a lovely cadence that keeps even 3 year olds attentive to the longer pages. Oh and it takes place on the shores of Lake Michigan... ahh.
